10 Simple Tips for a Healthy Body

A lot of what this post talks about will probably strike one as being just common sense but then sense is not all that common! And besides we all need a little reminder, now and then to do things the right way; to pay the required attention to our bodies and treat it right.

1. Eat Healthy

This is stating the obvious, but just doing simple things such as eating out less, cooking more at home (Healthy  Foods), relying less on packaged food and buying more natural and unprocessed produce can make a huge difference. You may be surprised and what a different it can make; just replacing the dessert at the end of a meal with seasonal fruit.

2. Exercise

Again this is a no brainer, but even if you don’t find time to have an organized exercise routine to go to a class or the gym try to be more active in life – bicycle to work, or at least park the car a few blocks away from office and walk there. You can take the stairs, toss a Frisbee in the yard and enjoy some rough and tumble with the kids, walk to the store instead of taking the car; be creative about incorporating activity into the day.

3. Keep stress at bay

It isn’t just the fact that a stressful life is less enjoyable; it is corrosive in more ways than this – stress can cause weight to pile up, it can lead to other health issues, and so there are many reasons to keep stress in check. Prioritize, delegate, and cut down; indulge more in leisure activities; do whatever it takes to reduce stress.

4. Take care of your teeth

Bad oral health doesn’t just mean that you may lose teeth before time and look older than you are. Research has shown that poor dental health is connected to heart disease as well.

5. Drink a lot of water

Not only does every part of your body need water to function, even your hair and skin needs lots of water to maintain suppleness and shine. And plain water can be simply delicious.

6. Kick the butt

Seriously there is absolutely no reason to smoke; it is really un-cool now too. Whereas earlier there was a certain cool factor associated with smoking, we now know the many, many reasons why it is terrible for the body – from giving you smoker’s face (premature aging and graying of the skin) to giving you cancers.

7. Drink in moderation

Alcohol can have its uses and a glass of wine may have antioxidants that are helpful, but alcohol in excess can be bad for the body and for one’s social and intimate life as well.

8. Protect your skin

The sun may feel wonderful on the skin but it can cause a bunch of problems ranging from sun burn to premature wrinkles to skin cancer. So use protective clothing or sunscreen regularly and do your skin a favor.

9. Practice safe and responsible sex

Irresponsible sexual behavior can be life altering not only in that it can cause an unwanted pregnancy but may also spread potentially deadly sexually transmitted diseases.

10. Have a yearly health check up

A health check up every year with your health care provider will make sure that everything is in good working order.
