3. Discuss Your Family History with Your Doctor

Talk to your doctor about your family history. Your family history will help identify potential future health risks. If you have a history of certain types of cancer, heart disease or dementia, there are habits you can form today to help you avoid those diseases despite any genetic predisposition. Early interventions are the most successful interventions. When you know what to look for, you will be more likely to catch the early warnings than if you are blind to your family genetics. Ask your doctor what behaviors you can adopt and what nutrition plan you should be following then write it down in your health plan.
