Buying Running Shoes for Any Budget

Were you born to run?  Do you rise with the sun and put down seven miles before work?  Can you be found gliding across the pavement at odd hours of the night?  Does walking bore you?  Is 26.2 your favorite number?

If you answered yes to any of the previous questions, you might be a running fanatic.  Even if you’re just an occasional jogger, however, you could probably still benefit from a shoe upgrade.  There’s an old adage that your shoes won’t make you faster, but that’s not exactly true.  Old, heavy shoes will weigh you down, and this will take time off your miles.  If you’re a competitive runner, that’s unacceptable.  If you’re a casual runner, you’d still rather run more distance in less time.  Read on to find out where to get the best pair of running shoes on any budget.

Budget: Low

You might think that if you don’t have much of a budget, then you can’t get a new pair of running shoes.  Wrong!  There are actually a ton of great running shoes available on the market for next to nothing.  A great place to start your search is at Sears.com.  They have a surprising selection of running shoes by well-known brands like Reebok and New Balance for under $30.  Best of all, you can find Sears coupons online for even greater savings!

Budget: Medium

If you’re not obsessed with finding the cheapest pair out there, but you still don’t want to break the bank, then Shoes.com is a really good place to go.  As the name suggests they have a huge variety of all shoes, but their running shoes section is really excellent.  What is also nice about this site is that you can search for shoes based on parameters like width and colors, which means you have a good idea of what you’re getting before you make a purchase.

Budget: High

For most people, spending a lot of money on a high-end pair of running shoes is a big deal.  They want to make sure they’re getting the best value possible with their investment.  If this is you, the best place to find shoes is at RoadRunnerSports.com.  Road Runner advertises itself as “The World’s Largest Running Store,” and they probably are.  This website is great if you’re looking for high-end shoes because they carry literally every brand imaginable and cater solely to runners.  For even more savings, try joining their “VIP” program.  At only $1.99 for the first year, this program provides you with free shipping, 10% off all shoes, and a 90-Day window to test out and return any shoes you order.  This trial period is huge, because generally it takes at least a few weeks to really break in a new pair of shoes.

No one has to run.  We do so because it makes us feel good.  For some of us, running is a personal challenge, to see how far we can push ourselves, and the great things we can accomplish.  For others, running is merely a great tool to stay in shape.  No matter what your reasons are though, there is a great new pair of running shoes out there that can fit your budget.

I buy shoes at runner's warehouse. Toward the end of the year, when new and updated models are released, the previous version are sold at deep discounts. I've gotten 140$ running shoes for 60$. Its not always a matter of where you shop, but when.
