Eye Secrets 101: Is Blepharoplasty for You?

Blepharoplasty has always been a favorite among those who undergo cosmetic surgery. One of the reasons there is that Blepharoplasty may greatly effect a great change in your appearance and will remove those looses baggy lids that makes you tired and appear older.

Severe cases of eyelid woes includes the overhanging of skin on the upper lid thus may result to vision problems. But with addressing those sagging eyebrows can be as easy as one procedure: Blepharoplasty.

What is Blepharoplasty?

Before we go to the reasons why you are a candidate for Blepharoplasty, let’s have first a discussion of what a Blepharoplasty is.

Blepharoplasty is the surgical process of removing fatty tissues and excess skin from the upper and lower eyelids. But don’t be misdirected; the procedure cannot eliminate wrinkle problems around the eyes such as the smile lines and the crows’ feet. You will have to have another procedure for that.

Do you need Blepharoplasty?

Here’s a checklist you can tick to know if you are a candidate for Blepharoplasty:

  • You need it if you have loose baggy skin around your eyes.
  • You have fat pockets along your upper and lower eyelids.
  • You got eye bags that are like always there forever in your lower eyelid.
  • You always look like you haven’t slept the whole night due to the dark circles around your eyes.
  • You sometimes experience sudden vision shifts or your vision and focus seems to be affected or restricted.
  • You cannot perfect the application of your liquid eyeliner. For ladies only.

You may tick these things above if you are ready, if not then you can keep denying I and suffer consequences later. I am a recipient of Blepharoplasty myself and I took the checklist above to my room and start about meditating

Many of my friends would often ask me about the experience bombarding me with questions. I was obliged to answer everything though I sounded like a broken record because they ask the same things, different settings. Here are few of those questions:

  1. Do you think I need it too? A friend of mine asked me this, I gave her a mirror. Kidding, I gave her the list.
  2. Does the procedure hurt? Asking me that seem irrelevant before undergoing surgery because anything that concerns needles hurt, and like it hurts big. But after the procedure, I can vouch for it that it isn’t. It can cause discomfort but that’s given.
  3. What are the risks involved? I would have liked to answer that with ‘nothing’ that’s why I am writing this but then let me point this out. All surgeries, minor or major can pose risks. Blepharoplasty can pose some which may include slight scarring and a little bit of stinging after the surgery. But nothing more. And that would be because of my surgeon, he can do magic.
  4. How does it happen? It happens through surgery. Surgeons make incisions and all those fatty tissues were removed. They did it in the upper lid and the lower lid.

How Much does it Cost?

Before the surgery I was kind of hopeful that I will qualify for insurance. Hopes are high, but I know better. Insurance companies may only offer to fund your Eyelid surgery if your condition is greatly impairing your vision, thus reimbursements may happen. But if not, then you have to dig deeper in your pockets.

Your over all fee may include a payment for:

  • Surgeons’ fees
  • Assistant surgeon’s fees
  • Anesthetists fees
  • Hospital and theater costs
  • Follow up visits for a given period

Your payment will also depend if you want your upper eyelid only done or your lower eyelid only. Another price too will be quoted if you want the upper and the lower eyelid to be operated on. Mostly for upper and lower lid you can have an estimate of $4,500 – 8,000 (AUD). And again it’s in Australian dollar; you can try solving for it to your currency through currency converter.

Benefits, Benefits

And I said that in a singsong voice, I always thought I am funny. Anyway, why get a Blepharoplasty when you can augment my puffy with cucumber slices? Frankly dear, cucumber slices work slow and effects happen for a short time.

Here are reasons you can tick again:

  • I want to look younger and energized.
  • I want to remove the tired and zombie look I sport.
  • I want to see well.
  • I want to be vibrant and rejuvenated.

The four things above I said with a flourish that I convinced myself to undergo it after a couple of minutes. I don’t need that much persuading anyway. But dear, if you have held all these things true, try it.

Now, have you got eye secrets and Blepharoplasty checklist you want to share?
