If youâ€™re looking for a natural solution for the effects of aging, look no further than your nearest grocery store. There, youâ€™ll find acai, blueberry, and raspberry â€”three superfruits rich in antioxidants that fight aging and prevent disease.
The Disease-Fighting Acai Berry
Acai berry is extremely high in antioxidantsâ€” in fact, acai purportedly contains 10 times the antioxidants of red grapes. These antioxidants destroy free radicals, which damage cells and cause premature cellular aging.
Research indicates acai displays exceptional activity against free radicals.  Along with reversing the effects of aging, this antioxidant function may also reduce heart disease and cancer risk. 
Acai is also packed with omega-3 fatty acids and vitamins.  Omega-3s may slow aging by preserving DNA segments in white blood cells. Omega-3s also lower inflammation, which relieves symptoms of heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, and Alzheimerâ€™s. 
The Brain-Boosting Blueberry
Blueberries contain age-fighting polyphenols, which were found to increase lifespan and slow age-related declines in a nematode (roundworm).  This provides a powerful motive for human studies to be conducted on blueberries and aging.

For example, ellagic acid carries significant antioxidant activity, which inhibits certain cancers. Specifically, ellagic acid stops cancer cell growth and induces apoptosis, or cell death. 
Anthocyanin, another substance in raspberry, prevents bacterial and fungal growth.  Bacteria and fungi infections cause inflammation, which results in visible signs of aging like wrinkles. They can also lead to cancer, arthritis, and other diseases.  By eating raspberries, you may indirectly reverse aging by preventing inflammation.
Rounding off raspberryâ€™s age-fighting components is vitamin C. Vitamin Câ€™s antioxidant content prevents conditions like heart disease and Alzheimerâ€™s. 
Where to Find These Superfruits
Blueberries and raspberries are found at most grocery stores. Although fresh acai is not found in the United States, you can still get the benefits through juices and other acai products. If you opt for a fruit juice, make sure the juices you choose arenâ€™t loaded with sugar or other unhealthy components.
The benefits of these fruits can also be obtained through supplements, which generally supply a higher dose of the berries than youâ€™d get through diet alone. But, many supplements have added ingredients and fillers. Because of this, sometimes the safest bet is to eat the natural berry.
