Five Ways to Achieve a Celebrity Smile

demi-moore-celebrity-smileCelebrities are associated with many things: money, scandal, cosmetic surgery excesses, and a perfect smile. Since celebrities are always expected to smile for the camera, having an imperfect smile is unheard of in celebrity circles. In fact celebrities are more likely to splash out on some cosmetic dentistry than they are a tummy tuck or face lift. So, if you are not blessed with perfectly straight dazzling white teeth, what are the treatments on offer?

Orthodontic Teeth Straightening

Perfectly straight teeth are essential for a celebrity look. There are plenty of celebrities who started off their careers with a wonky, crooked smile—Celine Dion is one example—but in all cases the first thing they do when they hit the big time is have their smile fixed. Teeth can be straightened in a variety of different ways. Traditional train track braces are an effective method, but there are other less visible treatments for adults.

Teeth Whitening

Having yellow, stained teeth is a big no-no if you are a celebrity. The idea is to have teeth so dazzlingly white that the paparazzi are blinded when they snap photos of you falling out of nightclubs. Simon Cowell is a good example of a celebrity with whiter than white teeth. He probably has laser treatment to keep them that white, but a cheaper way to enjoy whiter teeth is to buy a home teeth whitening kit.

Veneers

Porcelain veneers are another popular celebrity cosmetic dentistry treatment. Watch any extreme makeover programme and the contestants invariably end up having several thousand dollars’ worth of porcelain veneers to transform their crooked and stained teeth into an A list smile. Veneers are very expensive and they don’t last forever, but they are an effective way of achieving a perfect set of teeth.

Crowns

Crowns are used to cover broken or damaged teeth. So if your teeth are reasonably straight except for a few dodgy back teeth, some crowns may be the perfect solution. Crowns can be made from porcelain or metal. For an unobtrusive look, choose a crown that blends in with the rest of your teeth, but if you want to look like a rap star, go for a gold crown instead.

Gold Fillings

Nothing says celebrity more than a few gold teeth. Ok, so gold teeth may look a bit odd if you are female, but for men gold teeth are a good look, particularly if you accessorise them with some gold jewellery and a hip car. If you want to go a bit further, consider replacing your teeth with gold implants instead. You could even bling them up even more with diamonds and other precious stones. Just be careful you don’t get mugged for your smile.

Cosmetic dentistry is not cheap, but if you are not happy with your current smile, it is worth asking your dentist what treatment options are available. Just remember, some cosmetic dentistry treatments are not permanent and may need to be replaced after a period of time. You may also need quite a few treatments, particularly if you opt for orthodontics.
