Go Green to Lose Weight

Sometimes an ideal body image – at least the healthier and not anorexic one – can do well for you.  Not only will it get you into the I-want-to-look-fit-and-good mode but will also boost your self-esteem in case you’re not happy about your body.

There are numerous ways in which you can say goodbye to those extra kilos.  People will ask you to crash diet, hit the gym with a vengeance or simply starve yourself till your mouth froths from both ends!  Why put yourself through so much drama when a healthy lifestyle that includes good food habits and exercise can actually help you lose weight.  Add to this lifestyle a healthy dose of green tea which has been heralded through the ages as the powerhouse of antioxidants which promote good health!

Why Is Green Tea so Good?

The main ingredients of green tea are polyphenols and caffeine which are known to act as metabolism boosters for the body.  Moreover, the flavonoids present in green tea are known to possess antioxidants and anti-carcinogenic properties that promote overall wellness.

Does Green Tea Help with Weight Loss?

It will be wrong on our part to tell you drinking tea is enough for weight loss and that it will magically reduce 10 kilos in a week.  There is no proof to such bogus claims which are being boisterously made by various advertisements which promote the ‘ancient secret of Chinese green tea’ on late night TV.  Therefore, if you are thinking about including green tea for weight loss, make sure you do it with realistic expectations.

Green tea and Weight loss Facts

  • It has been proven by multiple researches that green tea will deduct 70 to 80 calories on a daily basis if you drink at least 5 cups of it.
  • Therefore, you want to reduce a mere inch or two then green tea might just do the trick for you.
  • However, for losing a substantial amount of weight you will have to combine green tea with healthy food and exercise.

Weight Loss Triggers

Polyphenols – The polyphenols in green tea dissolve the try the triglyceride deposits in the body.  Triglycerides are important for the body but when in excess they are known to increase the risk of heart disease and diabetes.  They also add to the stored fat content of the body.

Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) – another element present in green tea which has gained immense popularity as an antioxidant is EGCG. It is known to accelerate the body’s metabolism.  An increased metabolic rate will automatically contribute to weight loss as the body can now process more calories and therefore, there is less storage. In fact, research that has been published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, suggests that green tea actually accelerates the rate of metabolism by at least 4%.

Caffeine – Along with EGCG, the caffeine present in green tea also aids weight loss. Coffee in green tea is known to introduce a process called thermogenesis in the body which leads to weight loss. When heat is produced in the body which consumes calories in organisms, the process is termed thermogenesis.

Green tea – Other Benefits

  • Adding a cup of green tea to your breakfast instead of that steaming mug of coffee can actually save you from consuming extra calories.
  • Green tea also supposedly benefits our body by monitoring our glucose levels by watching our insulin levels and blood sugar spikes if any. In a research conducted at the University of Chicago, it was noticed that mice that were injected with green tea shots, went on to lose about 21% of their total body fat and their appetite was also reduced by 60%.

[box type=”note”]Green tea is a very good addition to your diet. But make sure that make other sustained efforts too, like weight loss exercises and taking a well control diet in order to lose weight. Because green tea alone can’t do the trick if you continue to hog like there is no tomorrow![/box]

green tea is very beneficial for weight loss,During my research I discovered many sources which helped in losing weights, diets and fatness. I used many medicines although I knew the chemicals used in them will damage my liver. At last I had to use the traditional treatment. I also found out the benefits of green tea which are completely different from black tea.

Hi emmeddoutlet, thanks for the comments. Yes green tea as well as green veggies are beneficial in weight loss, but relying only in these is not a good idea. They act as a catalyst in weight loss and along with this weight loss exercises and diet plan are necessary.
