The Basics:

If you want healthy skin, you have to start with clean skin. Using a cleanser for your skin type will get rid of dirt, dead skin cells, and pollutants that can make your skin look dull and lifeless.  Just following this one step will make your skin look brighter and younger.

The second step of any skin care routine should be the moisturizer.  Always get one with sunscreen in it even if it’s winter or you don’t spend much time outside.  The sun can age your skin faster than you realize.  While you can buy many generic skin care products, your moisturizer is one area where you won’t want to skimp.  Buying a quality moisturizer is necessary to have the best skin possible, get a dual purpose moisturizer and sunscreen to also protect your skin from sun damage.  Besides getting the right kind for your skin type, you will also want to get an anti-aging moisturizer that has ingredients designed for older skin.

Specialty Products:

Many people wonder if all those other products like the microdermabrasion sets or special serums really work.  That is something you will have to decide for yourself, since it’s often expensive to get all of the skin care products that are offered by one company.  The best advice is to buy all of your products from the same company or the same line.  They are designed to work together and you won’t get the maximum benefit if you mix them with other brands.

Eye creams are one product that most women should buy.  They are designed differently than other moisturizers because the skin around the eye is delicate and gets thinner as you age.  The eyes are one of the first places to show aging; use a special product that is made for that area to help you look younger.  Some eye cream products containing vitamin k and retinol may help to reduce the appearance of fine lines as well as dark circles.

Correctors and line fillers are great to use if you are going out for a special occasion or just want to look your best. However, there are very few of those products that actually reduce lines.  They usually just fill lines temporarily to make your skin look smoother and younger.

Retinol products have received acclaim in the skin care industry for the benefits they provide.  They will help reduce lines and wrinkles if the product is used regularly.  Retinol will fade age spots and improve the texture of the skin; it also helps improve elasticity to prevent sagging. It speeds up cell turnover to improve the glow that comes with younger skin.

Make skin care a priority and you will always look younger than you are.
