What is Raspberry Ketone Extract?

In red raspberries, the key aroma compound is raspberry ketone. This compound controls adiponectin, which is a protein that your body uses to regulate metabolism. Since raspberry ketone encourages breaking down of the fat inside your cells more effectively, it helps your body to burn fat more rapidly. As raspberry ketone extract is extracted from made up of red raspberries, you won’t suffer any side effects after the intake of these original supplements. However, since several companies offering this extract may use synthetic process for its manufacture, it’s important to ensure that you buy the natural extract from a company of repute.

Working Principle:

As mentioned before, raspberry ketones increase adiponectin’s presence in the bloodstream. Adiponectin helps regulate your body’s metabolism, especially the metabolism of the fatty acids present in the fat cells. In other words, the higher the percentage of adiponectin is in your body, the better able your body will be to burn out the fat cells to generate energy and use it for a range of activities. This process is called lipolysis.
Raspberry ketone extract attacks fat in three different ways:

  • Slows down Accumulation and Absorption of Fat: Pancreatic lipase, an enzyme, helps in the digestion of dietary fat, which is then absorbed by the small intestine. Raspberry ketone has the power to restrain pancreatic lipase activity, which in turn decreases dietary fat absorption. Similar to fats, dietary sugars like fructose and glucose can also boost fat build-up (lipogenesis) and encourage fat accumulation. But raspberry ketone suppresses fat accumulation in subcutaneous and visceral adipose (fat) tissues triggered by the excessive intake of sugars.
  • Boost Calorie Expenditure: Intake of raspberry ketone extract boosts oxygen consumption and stimulates brown adipose tissue (BAT) thermogenesis. An increased consumption of oxygen and thermogenesis will cause a noticeable increase in calorie expenditure, which would ensure substantial total fat loss.
  • Augments Rate-Limiting Step in the Process of Fat Breakdown: Fats are generally stored as triglycerides in adipose tissue. When required, triglycerides are broken down into free fatty acids and glycerol or diglycerides. However, in lipolysis (fat breakdown process), a rate-limiting step is the breakdown of triglycerides, because the most powerful fat-burning enzyme of your body – hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL), needs to be activated to encourage the breakdown of triglyceride. In fact, for breaking down the triglycerides, HSL should move from the cytosol to the fat cells’ lipid droplet. Raspberry ketone speed up the breakdown of triglycerides by increasing the translocation of HSL from the cytosol to the fat cells’ lipid droplet, which is the chief and most powerful effect that raspberry ketone has on triggering fat loss.

How do you benefit from Raspberry Ketone Extract?

If you are wondering what the working principle explained above means to you, here’s the answer. With the intake of raspberry ketone extract, you give a boost to your metabolism, which in turn speeds up your fat loss. As this extract helps augment your fat metabolism, you will experience an increase in your natural energy level. This in turn would be particularly helpful for those who often feel tired while doing their workouts.

This way, the raspberry ketone extract would be doing double duty – helping you burn fat, and letting you workout for an extended period so that you don’t put back the lost fat again. Of course, it would help if you stick to a regular exercise program and healthy diet to see quick and noticeable results.

Eating berries vs. the extract

Many people ask why they can’t just eat a lot of raspberries instead of consuming the extract to get the same effects. If the same question is playing on your mind too, here’s the answer: you will need to consume a huge daily dose of the berries, about 90 lbs a day, if you wish to enjoy the same fat-burning outcome as offered by a solitary 100mg dose of the ketone extract. Since such a huge amount would mean loads of fiber, which is almost impossible for anyone to consume, it’s best to opt for the supplements in the form of extracts that are highly concentrated and designed to give you a high dosage of raspberry ketones to offer effective results.

Benefits of Raspberry Ketone Extract:

Most popular brands that market the raspberry ketones extract claim that their users can enjoy the following benefits:

  • Lose weight in the range of 2 to 5 pounds every week
  • Give the body’s metabolism a boost, which will help the user burn more calories
  • A stronger immune system
  • Increased energy levels
  • Getting the body detoxified

So, buy your raspberry ketone today to lose weight and live a healthy and active life.

Interesting, but there is no real science behind it. There were a couple of studies with mice. One resulted in some weight loss, the other none. But the mice consumed the equivalent of 145 pounds of raspberries every day. Not really a healthy diet!

Sounds interesting. I am relatively fit and watch what I eat but I have to say that my stomach area is a bit of a frustration after having my last child. It just doesn’t seem to want to go back to its original size :) I just might have to give the raspberry ketones a try.

Interesting stuff! I might just give it a go myself. It just worries me that Dr. Sellout is promoting it.
