Skin Care Without Parabens – Is It Possible?

With many people continuing to awaken to newer consciousness about their skin protection, more skin care products’ manufacturers have continued to emerge in the market. Most people, especially females, want to keep their skin as fresh as possible with the intent of “growing old gracefully”. The reality is that most of these newer and old products come with certain additives known as parabens.

These additives are typically preservatives that prevent the growth of bacteria in the skin care products but in the recent years, these have received much speculation from health experts. With experts pointing out these preservatives as responsible for many skin complications, many people have shifted to using products for skin care without parabens (parabenefri hudpleje is the term in Danish).

The following are some of the reasons why you will want to buy skin care products without any trace of parabens.

Parabens and Estrogen

Most paraben substances used in skin care products cause rapid accumulation of estrogen in the body. Conversely, research studies link extremely high levels of estrogen to the destruction of female reproduction, as well as increasing the risk of breast cancer. Other related studies involving cancerous tumors that have been extracted from females’ breasts have found high levels of parabens. However, it has not been scientifically proven that parabens are responsible for this. It is recommended to use products for skin care without parabens – better safe than sorry.

Your skin absorbs the substances that you apply onto it. In fact, medical studies have proven that the skin does this ten times more quickly than the substances that are directly placed into the bloodstream. There is an expert proof that even the slightest deposits of parabens stay in your body for a longer time than you can ever imagine. Considering all the medical findings on the adverse effects of paraben being tabled all across the world, it is important to stick to products for skin care without parabens.

Parabens and Low Testosterone

Borrowing from the argument in the first point, scientists have also found something to interest any man using conventional skin care products. Similar studies have indicated that men using paraben-containing skin care products usually have very low levels of testosterone and general low sperm count as compared to those who use products for skin care without parabens. What this means is that a man using conventional products may face problems if they wish to sire children, and it can get even more problematic as one advances in age. If you are to buy any skin care product, ensure that it has zero percent paraben.

Methylparaben is one of the most common forms of parabens, mostly found in skin care products manufactured for users’ faces. Conventionally, these facial skin care products promise to reduce the rate and the aging effects, but does this really happen? Unfortunately, as many research studies have shown, the application of a product with this paraben followed by exposure to the ultraviolet rays actually accelerates the level of the aging effects. This could be worse than it would have been naturally. You certainly do not want to experience such a situation. To maintain your natural youthful look for the longest time possible, it is imperative to use products for skin care without parabens.

How can I know if my skin care products contain parabens? Is it written in the ingredients list? I think most products that involved chemical manufacturing contain some sort of harmful additives. It’s better to use natural methods. Thanks for information!

I think the Parabens are usually used in the skin creams and most of the skin care products are using Parabens. And the skin care products are also made by natural ingredients. Which is also good for skin.

Parabens are still commonly used in skin care products because they allow manufacturers a longer shelf life for their products. They can also be found in many so called “natural” skin care products for the same reason. There are, however a growing number of skin care product manufacturers that have eliminated the use of parabens in their products. Look for some that offer custom blending .Many lesser known manufacturers can offer you products that are natural and still as effective as the bigger brands without the outrageous prices!
