Weight Loss tips from a Personal Trainer
How many of the popular magazines feature pictures of slim, toned celebrities on the cover and throughout, generally accompanied by weight loss tips ‘guaranteed’ to provide similar results? If only!
A lifestyle based on a well-balanced diet coupled with exercise is the only true sustainable way of achieving a fit and healthy body and mind. For many this conjures up endless hours of sweat and toil in the gym – not something most relish. However the desire to ‘lose weight and get fit‘ remains as strong as ever.
Perhaps surprisingly, with the right help, improving fitness and well-being can actually be enjoyable and personal training is becoming increasingly popular for this very reason. Well qualified personal trainers not only help devise a varied exercise program to suit individual needs and circumstances but also look at the most effective way to provide the energy for that exercise by discussing eating plans. More often than not small changes in terms of food intake and meal times can make a significant difference in terms of weight loss and a personal trainer’s knowledge and advice can be invaluable.
It’s both normal and all too easy to adjust eating patterns and tuck into ‘convenience foods’ to fit in with the demands of home and work but doing so rarely results in the healthiest of diets. Reviewing a food diary with a personal trainer can reveal interesting results, enabling simple alterations to be made without having to avoid favorite foods, simply just eat them in moderation.
It is usually much easier to achieve something when working as an equal part of a team. The continued motivation, guidance and encouragement personal trainers provide can easily make the difference between attaining a desired goal or not. Healthy eating plans are much easier to stick to if efforts are being recognised and difficulties discussed and resolved. It is also far easier to integrate regular exercise into everyday life if it is treated like any other appointment in terms of priority and the importance of attending.
A personal trainer can provide different types of exercise within a training plan to maintain interest and ensure that a general level of fitness is achieved. For those wishing to improve their well-being, to equal the input a personal trainer can provide is invariably difficult from both a time and knowledge point of view. Not having to put resources into the organisational aspects of diet and exercise means that all effort goes totally in the direction of fitness and well-being.
Safety is equal to sustainability in being a key aspect of weight loss through diet and exercise. Following a personal trainer’s advice is the best way to ensure consistency. Crash diets may appear to be effective in the short-term but often much of the weight loss is due to loss of fluid rather than fat and there is rarely a positive effect in terms of increasing the amount of muscle relative to the amount of body fat.
Meeting the challenges of everyday life is so much easier when fit and well. Getting weight loss tips from a Personal Trainer makes this achievable effectively, sustainably and safely because the information is based on best advice with the individual’s best interests at heart.

I have always had a weight problem, but enjoyed walking. I noticed that as I got older and walked less I put on more weight. Then last year I had an infection in one leg and since then walking has been very difficult for me. I can hobble around the house, but even simply cooking the evening meal is very difficult. I becoming immobile and my weight is increasing and I have no idea what to do about it. It is very frightening. If I had known what I know now, I would have taken much more exercise when I could.
Yep, Diet and exercise makes all the difference. But one thing I think people underestimate is how much diet matters. You can exercise your brain out but with out the proper diet, you’ll be spinning your wheels!
