  1. Most beginners get carried away and in their excitement of exercising put too much pressure on their wrists. Remember, that your wrists are delicate and ideally, they should be in a straight line with your arm. Turning it at different angles and directions can cause injuries.
  2. The best way is to rest your wrists on a rolled up towel to cushion them, as the stress on the wrists is less then.
  3. Begin with the basics and then proceed to the advanced exercises. It is always a good idea to have a partner watch over you and help you with the advanced and complicated exercises. He or she can also support your body. Begin with a warm up and then proceed with the basics till your body is conditioned for the other exercises.  Progressive too quickly from the basics is a recipe for injury.
  4. Begin with stretches to loosen your body. If you discomfort, stop immediately and take a break till you feel better.
  5. Your body knows its limits and do not push yourself beyond your comfort level. It can only cause untold harm and no good at all.
  6. If the discomfort continues, consult a doctor immediately. It is also best to consult a doctor prior to beginning with yoga, if you are suffering from any medical condition.
  7. Make sure that you have a certified instructor to guide your properly through the various steps of the yoga practice too.
